Join Jennifer Gennari, a classically trained figurative artist known for her emotionally rich animal portraits and John Singer Sargent like brushwork. With formal training from Ringling College of Art and Design and the Florence Academy of Art, Jennifer brings years of experience — from assisting Jeff Koons to teaching at top institutions — into every class she leads.
Her workshops are a true labor of love, combining traditional portrait techniques with her passion for capturing the life and spirit of animals. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from a master in the heart of Manhattan’s art scene.
Students will be painting an animal portrait-reference provided by Jenn.

MATERIALS TO BRING TO CLASS:
PAINT
Ivory black
English red
Vermilion
Alizarin crimson
Cobalt blue
Viridian
Emerald green
Yellow ochre
Naples yellow genuine (vasari only)
Lead white (rublev)
BRUSHES
Filberts or flats. Bristol. 2-8 size
PALETTE
whatever you love. Jen uses a small new wave palette
PANELS Ampersand gesso panel.
Panels can be anywhere from 9x12" - 16x20. Bring 3 panels since some people work on one the whole time and others do multiple
Bring panels with your drawing done, or blank with an intent on drawing in class. Either works

A few reference images you would like to work from. Preferably from an ipad. The higher the resolution, the better.

Things to look for :
Clear, high resolution
one strong light source
Balance in warm and cool temperatures ( an image where things arent overwhelmingly sepia. As an example)
