Join me for an immersive three-day painting workshop in my Costa Mesa studio, focused on creating a complete, vibrant oil painting from photographic reference.

Over the three days, I’ll take you through my painting process step by step—from choosing a strong, paintable reference and planning your composition to drawing, color mixing, layering, edges, and finishing touches.

We’ll explore drawing, value, color relationships, flesh tones, light, composition, edges, and transparent vs. opaque paint, with an emphasis on creating luminous, vibrant color and bringing life into a painting rather than simply copying a photograph.

I’ll demonstrate my process throughout the workshop and work individually with each student. We’ll discuss how to simplify a photo, decide what information to keep or leave out, create a strong focal point, push color and atmosphere, and solve the problems that come up as a painting develops.

Beginners are absolutely welcome. I’ll break down each stage of the process so you can work at your own level and pace. More experienced painters can use the workshop to refine their technique, experiment with color, and push their work further.
